This method of contraception lasts a long time and is fully reversible. It has the form of a small, flexible 4 cm long rod. The implant is injected under the skin and then releases synthetic progesterone, which is effective in preventing pregnancy.
The contraceptive effects last from six months to five years. During this period, a small amount of a progestogen is released, which penetrates into the blood and then into the rest of the body. Contrary to tablets, the implant does not release estrogens. They are most often responsible for side effects. This method can be successfully used by patients over 35, women smoking cigarettes and those struggling with overweight, hypertension or diabetes. There are also no contraindications for applying the implant to women who are breastfeeding. The released hormone is safe for the nursing baby and can be used as early as four weeks after giving birth. Unlike pills, the implant does not release estrogens that cause side effects. It is also a method recommended for overweight women (over 90 kg) who cannot use contraceptive patches. Besides, if you want to:

Contraindications
Contraceptive implants, like any method, cannot be used in all patients. Contraindication is the age of the woman under 18 years of age, thrombophlebitis or venous thromboembolism, acute liver disease, liver tumors, breast cancer or suspected breast cancer, unexplained vaginal bleeding and hypersensitivity to any component of the implant.
The course of the procedure
