The aging process is a natural stage in human life. With age, the skin also loses its volume and firmness, which causes great discomfort and sometimes even lower self-esteem. Fortunately, there is a safe therapy that can prevent this from happening. Learn about lipotransfer and find out what functions can be performed by autogenous fat in aesthetic medicine.

Own fat is not so bad

Transplanting your own (autogenous) adipose tissue is also called lipofilling or lipotransfer. Thanks to the progress of aesthetic medicine, this material is successfully used to fill wrinkles, nasolabial furrows, eyelid-cheek furrows (tear valley), lips, sunken cheeks, scars and other skin defects.

An important advantage of the treatment is the use of the patient’s own adipose tissue, taken from other parts of the body, e.g. from the thigh or abdominal fold, thanks to which the filling material is completely safe for the patient, does not cause allergies and is easily absorbed. Additionally, in the natural human fat tissue there are valuable stem cells that stimulate the skin to revitalize. The treatment of filling with adipose tissue is most often performed on the face in order to rejuvenate it and shape it, as well as improve its contour. However, it can be performed almost on the entire body. Moreover, the obtained effects are completely natural.

What does the fat transplant procedure look like?

The fat transplantation procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and takes place in three successive stages:

  • Taking the patient’s own adipose tissue by liposuction (fat suction) from a place rich in this ingredient, e.g., from the thigh or abdominal fold.
  • Preparation of the collected adipose tissue for subcutaneous administration. This process is carried out using a special centrifuge, thanks to which the fat is cleaned of dead cells and excess fluids.
  • Subcutaneous administration of the prepared preparation with a thin needle into selected areas requiring filling.

Lipotransfer – is it worth it?

Fat as a natural filling material is a perfect solution for people who are looking for effective rejuvenating methods. Thanks to the treatment, it is possible to restore the skin’s lost volume, as well as to supplement deep wrinkles, furrows and crow’s feet. The therapy is also ideal for people who dream of shaping the face, cheeks, and temples, as well as emphasizing or correcting the shape of the lips, as well as getting rid of unsightly discoloration and improving the colour of the skin.

However, no one said that fat transplantation can only be performed on the face. The treatment is willingly used for shaping the backs of the hands, breasts, buttocks, and intimate areas, as well as for filling scars and skin defects, thanks to which they become much less visible. What’s more, the obtained results last for many years, which allows you to forget about your problem for a long time.

Well-groomed, smooth skin and a shapely figure are an important element of our appearance, improving self-esteem. However, so that we can enjoy a beautiful body as long as possible, it is worth taking care of it now!
