The procedure

Ear otoplasty, although it seems quite scary and complicated, is an easy procedure. It begins with an incision of a piece of skin behind the ear, of course after prior anaesthesia. The incision allows for the modelling of the cartilage to correct the wrong angle of the auricle. The new shape is maintained by placing sutures on the back surface of the cartilage. The seams are also applied to the skin behind the auricle. They are removed 10-14 days after the procedure.

The procedure ends with the application of a bandage dressing in the form of a headband, which must be left on for a week. Two follow-up visits are recommended.
